Cost of Attendance

Tuition and fees are based on the number of credit hours a student is enrolled each semester. For graduate international students, a minimum of 9 credit hours per semester is required for immigration compliance. Students are able to take up to 21 credit hours per semester without special permission.

International Students may wish to seek funding and scholarships while at the University of West Georgia. Graduate Student Assistantships, Research Assistantships and Teaching Assistantships are also available. These assistantships offer valuable professional development opportunities in various programs and departments within the university for degree-seeking graduate students through supervised work experiences.

Assistantships Information

We estimate the cost of attendance to the University of West Georgia for 1 year to be:

• Tuition and Fees - $18,500 (Based on 9 credit hours)
• Mandatory Health Insurance - $3,000
• Housing - $7,000
• Meal Plan - $2,400

• Travel - $600
• Total Estimated Cost: $32,000

Submit Application and Pay Application Fee

A non refundable application fee is required at the time of submission. You will be prompted to pay the application fee through the application portal. Application fee waivers are not typically available for international applicants.

Request Official Transcripts

Official transcripts are certified copies of official documents from each college, university and/or technical schools attended. Records must include courses completed, grades or marks earned, and certificates or degrees awarded. Include a certified English translation of all documents not written in English.

Academic Credential Evaluations

An Academic Credential Evaluation is required for all course work that is not awarded by a recognized institution holding United States accreditation. We have the ability to perform this type of evaluation within our office at no cost to you. Applicants are responsible for reaching out to global@westga.edu to request that we perform the evaluation for them once their official transcripts are received. We reserve the right to request an official evaluation in the event that we are unable to perform the evaluation ourselves. The evaluation service utilized must belong to the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES), or the Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE). All evaluations must be course-by-course, with GPA conversion.

Note: Any document UWG receives becomes property of UWG and will not be returned to you.

Proof of English Proficiency

All students must meet West Georgia's English Language Proficiency requirement. 

• For those whose first language is English, the requirement can be waived based on completion of a degree taught in the English language from an English-based educational system (USA, Canada, UK, Australia, etc.).
• For others, proof of English proficiency is required, and a number of exams are acceptable. For most students, the TOEFL or IELTS exams are the most common with the following score requirements:
