Are you interested in languages? Want to study abroad? To work internationally? To watch international films? To broaden your understanding of global citizenship? If so, GLACE is for you! In this community, you’ll live in The Oaks (or Arbor View) with students who share your interests. You’ll take one required course together as well as language courses suited to your level.

Open to incoming freshmen and returning students from any major. This community has appealed to many STEM and Business students who ended up adding a language minor or double major to enhance their academic profile and broaden their career opportunities.

GLACE students will be well situated to study abroad and to develop advanced competency in one or more languages with the ultimate aim of becoming more globally aware citizens, pursuing careers in multilingual or international settings, and engaging in thoughtful travel and interaction with varied peoples and cultures.

In the fall semester, students will enroll in XIDS 2100 (Language and Identity) or XIDS 2300 (Introduction to Linguistics) and a language course that will vary depending on background, inclination, and level of ability (6 hours total required): French; German; or Spanish. In the spring semester they will take a language class (3 hours required). Along the way, you’ll study with advanced language majors, enjoy cultural programs and dinners, and see what UWG has to offer for learning languages and international perspectives.

The Future is Global! Be a Part of It!
