The School of Nursing post-master's certificate program in education is designed for master's prepared nurses who desire further education for roles in teaching.

The program of study requires 10 credit hours and is designed to increase knowledge and skills needed to succeed in a variety of nursing leadership positions within the evolving healthcare evironment. Courses focus on nursing leadership/management, managed care, outcome measurement, patient saftey, quality improvement, cost effectiveness, patient-centered care and implementing change in the health delivery system.

The School of Nursing accepts applications for admission to the post-master's certificate programs that begin each Spring Semester.

Coursework completion is possible in as little as 2 years. Degrees are conferred in January. Coursework is available 95% online; each course requires one face-to-face meeting.

Role of Nurse as Leader / Manager - NURS 6601

Description: Exploration of the role of advanced nursing practice related to health systems leadership. Specific theories relating to leadership, quality improvement and outcomes management will be included.

Problem Solving in Health Systems Leadership - NURS 6602

Complete:  15 weeks | Credit hours: 2 | $542 (in-state or out-of-state, per course)

Description: Using a case study systems approach, this course provides an in depth examination of identifying health systems leadership problems and identifying specific theory-based and/or research interventions designed to solve indentified problems.

Nurse Educator Role Practicum I - NURS 6687

Complete:  15 weeks | Credit hours: 2 | $542 (in-state or out-of-state, per course)

Description: This practicum course focuses on decision-making and problem-solving in the health care delivery system utilizing theory and research. Opportunities are provided for students to demonstrate competencies in selected roles of health systems leader/manager in a clinical setting.

Outcomes Evaluation in Education - NURS 6603

Complete:  15 weeks | Credit hours: 2 | $542 (in-state or out-of-state, per course)

Description: Using a case study approach, students will examin methods/processes to assess outcomes realted to health systems leadership. Individual and group outcomes will be addressed. Students will explore ways to dcoument and present evidence of outcomes evaluaion. Students will explore the outcome evaluation as essential role of the advanced practice nurse.

Nurse Educator Role Practicum II - NURS 6887

Description: This practicum course focuses on oucomes evaluation and builds upon Role Parcticum I course. Opportunites are provided for students to demonstrate analysis and synthesis of the outcome evalution process.
